Last week we went for our annual Kris Kringle gathering. A group of 15-20 of us have been doing this for many years- with the last 10 or so being at Schnitzel Haus- but this is the first time I am putting in a review. Let me start with my summary- the food was great and portions plentiful, the service was great with our glasses always filled, and the restaurant was the perfect place - plenty of room - for our gathering! We had a pre selected menu that included Bavarian pretzels to start , an appetizer of either salad or soup, a main meal choice from 6 items and desert. The selection of dinners were more than 1 meal- I had leftovers to take home and enjoy the next day. The food was delicious and the selection of German beers were great! Thank you to the owners, staff, chef and everyone for making this a great night!
I'll give them full 10 stars, not only for their hospitality but also for absolutely tasty food. Simple but delicious. Friendly atmosphere, authentic decor makes you visit very much happier . Thank you guys for serving us. Definitely will be back soon.
Nice German restaurant in Bay Ridge. My friend had bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes which he said was good. I enjoyed the steak salad. Beware, it has lots of dressing. I'd get it again but with the dressing on the side. Tasty. Good service also.
The restaurant hosts various themed nights throughout the week, with a focus on live music. It's a nice addition for those seeking some entertainment with their meal. The lively atmosphere, especially when accompanied by live bands, adds to the overall appeal. The selection of draft German beers is a bonus! And, this is the place where I discovered my love for apple strudels (apfel strudel). While Schnitzel Haus generally delivers a positive dining experience, it's worth noting that during busy periods, service may be a bit stretched. On a particularly crowded evening, there were delays in getting drinks and appetizers, and some menu items were unavailable. For a smoother experience, arriving early or opting for a later dining time might be advisable.
We visited this restaurant the day after, as we were forgetful, and left our backpack. Olivia, the bartender and waitress, from the night before, was nice enough to safely store our bag. We were overjoyed as the restaurant had a live band playing oldie songs at 7pm. We had the pleasure of having , Amber and a young lad, served us with smiles and such politeness. Looking at the menu, there was a variety of things to try. We started our dinner with PILZE FÖRSTERIN ART. This was a mushroom appetizer to die for. It was absolutely amazing! Mouthwatering, and so flavorful with every bite. Making sure we had room to try a dessert, we decided to order a light dinner, and shared the LEBERKÄS MIT SPIEGELEI as our entree. This is a pork and veal loaf with two fried eggs on top. It came with mash potatoes, but the waitress so graciously allowed us to substitute with the German Potato salad. The eggs were perfect to our liking, but the loaf was a bit salty, but still good. The potato salad was also good. The entree was a nice size portion. We ordered the Black Forest cake, and thought it was okay. For us, it was not moist enough. We're looking forward to returning as our two consecutive visits were very nice.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. Schnitzel Haus is one of the few places you can get German fare in South Brooklyn and it's a good one. The portions are generous and the food defines comfort. The schnitzels are tender inside and crispy outside, but I highly recommend getting one with a gravy as the schnitzel on its own can be dry. The pretzel and wurste are always a crowd pleaser and come with 3 types of mustards. They have a variety of "nights" throughout the week -- trivia, bingo, live music, etc. if you're into that sort of thing.
This is the BEST German food I've had in South Florida...and anywhere in America! The service is equally outstanding! The ambiance is sophisticated without being stuffy. They have managed to make a restaurant in an every day strip mall feel cozy and comfortable with a good level of elegance. It's no Biergarten. It's a proper restaurant. Our server was great. She did mishear my boyfriend when he made his entree order, but he was fine with it because the entree she brought was just as tasty and it gave us ANOTHER reason to go back!! The sauerbraten was amazing, along with the beer, the bread pudding, the meatball, blackened shrimp...everything is fresh, authentic and beautifully presented.
Service We came here on a Friday night. They had a live band and the spot was full. There's a bar flanking one side of the restaurant and dining tables on the other side. Service was reliable, friendly and good. Only caveat is it can get pretty loud while the band is playing but that's also something that draws people in. Food We ordered a couple of apps - both were awesome. The potato pancakes were large, piping hot and perfect. We also ordered a small order of perogies. Yum! For mains we got the Schnitzel a la Holstein and Leberkse Mit Spiegelei. We liked the schnitzel more but both dishes were good! Overall Class joint, with good food. Only draw back they were cash only
I got their pork schnitzel with creamy mushroom sauce and I was soooo happy with it. If you love mushroom I recommend this dish. It comes with a lot of mushroom, like you can cut a piece of pork and have a mushroom with it that how much mushroom it comes with it. Their schnitzel comes with a side of potato with bacon bits and salad. There are many dressing you can pick. If you want to try something different get their warm bacon. (For those who like bacon)
Have come here multiple times since we moved to bay ridge even when it was dining outdoors only. Their food is delicious and it's always popping. Also they have live bands which is great. Brooklyn Bards was playing tonight. They have a good variety of draft German beers. Also, have had the fresh fruit summer sangria multiple times and it's delicious. I decided to come here for restaurant week 2022. They were super busy so I will give them some leeway so it was pretty hard to get any service for a drink or more water but wow, we also waited more than an hour for appetizers. Also, they were out of a lot of items. The sausage teller was very good and apple strudel was absolutely delicious. The dessert was hot and flakey and I don't even usually like desserts, yum! This visit started out slow but ended great. Service was great at the end. Only took 20 minutes to get our entrees and no time for our dessert. I think the lesson I learned is to come early or come late. Note: They were cash only so be prepared!
